I believe that all of us are on a journey. While on this journey, an event or a series of events can either positively or negatively impact the way we function in our personal, professional, and/or our spiritual lives. When people find themselves having been negatively impacted by obstacles on this journey and, perhaps, are struggling in their relationships with important others or are struggling with their relationship with themselves and are having a hard tome making it back, it is my passion to walk with people and untether the things that keep us bound to these events. I believe that all of us benefit from exploring our lives with trusted others, thus, it is my life’s purpose to provide a safe and professional place in which individuals and couples can explore, learn and grow. Not in an effort to erase events that have happened to us, but in an effort to sort through them and devise ways to use these events as strengths and to create a path forward.
I have a passion in working with individuals that have suffered some sort of trauma, whether it is major or minor, from attachment to sexual to combat related. I have been in the counseling practice since 2010 in a wide array of treatment settings, but also as a military spouse, I have experience working with these types of specific trauma. After becoming trained in EMDR in 2017, I am currently embarking in the certification process for EMDR to help guide you in a more specific way through this journey and into a place of healing.
I am not limited to trauma and derive a significant amount of professional satisfaction working with other types of disorders, such as depression and anxiety and substance abuse/dependence. I utilize psychoeducational materials, when necessary, in the therapeutic process to help people make sense of what is going on with them, in addition to the incorporating a spiritual dimension of making sense to work through towards healing.
Because I believe in a natural and holistic approach to mental health, I am also a Registered Yoga Instructor (RYT200) and offer individual and group yoga classes.
Providing a safe, professional, and person-centered place in which people can explore is my passion in life and I look forward to the opportunity of helping you explore, learn, and grow.
